The Pune City Police Crime Branch Unit 3 has arrested a 23-year-old youth with one pistol and one live cartridge. As per the police, constable Dnyaneshwar Chitte received a tip-off regarding the accused Saurabh Arun Mankar (age 23, resident of Haveli, Pune) carrying a pistol and bullets. The action taken by the Pune police on the background of the upcoming assembly elections has created a stir in the city.

Accordingly, the police team laid a trap and nabbed Mankar from Sangrun Village in Haveli Taluka in Pune District and recovered one pistol and one live cartridge from the accused. The accused has been arrested, and a case has been registered under sections 3(25) of the Indian Arms Act and 37(1) and 35 of the Mumbai Police Act at Uttam Nagar Police Station.

Further investigations revealed that the accused bought the pistol from his accomplice. The police have initiated the search for the accomplice while further investigation is underway.
