Pune Assembly Elections 2024: Congress Rebel Mukhtar Shaikh Withdraws Nomination From Kasba, Extends Support To Ravindra Dhangekar

Congress rebel Mukhtar Shaikh from the Kasba assembly constituency has decided to withdraw his nomination as an independent candidate and extend his support to Congress-Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate Ravindra Dhangekar.

Shaikh had filed his candidature as an independent candidate from Kasba after the party decided to field current MLA Ravindra Dhangekar. Shaikh claimed that he was a loyal Congress party worker for many years and the party should have considered his nomination from Kasba.

However, as today (October 4) is the last day to withdraw the candidature, the Pune City Congress was successful in sufficing Mukthar Shaikh’s rebel from the Kasba assembly constituency.

Mukhtar Shaikh, while talking to newsnetwork360.com, said, “ I have decided to withdraw my nominations and extend my support to Ravindra Dhangekar to support the Congress values and defeat the BJP from Pune. I had a word with senior party leaders and Pune City Congress Party President Arvind Shinde, and to keep the Congress strong, I have decided to back out from the elections.”
