In a major seizure amid the model code of conduct imposed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) amid the upcoming assembly elections, Rs 36 lakh from Chakan-Shikrapur Road on November 06. The unaccounted cash was seized from an Innova car bearing registration number MH 14 LL 4041.
According to the police, a surprise check was initiated amid the assembly election by the Chakan Police; accordingly, the Chakan Shikrapur Road near Chakan Criticare Hospital was barricaded, and the police were checking the vehicles on the highway when an Innova car was stopped and checked by the police. Upon checking the car, the police recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 36 lakh from the car. While the driver of the car failed to provide satisfactory information about the cash, the police seized the cash and the vehicle and detained the driver for further questioning.
The driver has been identified as Kiran Shivale, a local resident of Chakan.
