A shocking incident has come to light from the Worli area of Mumbai where a son allegedly killed his mother and later attempted suicide. The incident occurred at the Shiv Sankalp SRA in Gandhinagar in Worli in building number five of Cooperative Housing Society. The Worli police has registered a case against the son.
The deceased mother has been identified as Lalitha Thirugnana Sambandham (age 77) while the accused Balshanmugham Kuppuswamy is injured and undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
According to the information given by the police, the deceased Lalita Sambandham resided in Gandhinagar Shivsankalp Society in Worli. The wife of the accused Balashanmugam is a class two officer in the GST department in Mumbai while Balashanmugam was working in a reputed company. The accused lost his job in April and was undergoing financial stress and had a debt of Rs 36 lakhs due to be paid. The accused missed the loan payment from the bank due to the loss of his job and was under stress. Distresed of his financial condition the accused decided to die by suicide
On Friday, the accused went to meet his mother. There was a verbal argument between him and his mother over the finances. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly stabbed his mother in the stomach and in a state of panic stabbed himself in the neck with a kitchen knife. The neighbours noticed the mother lying in a pool of blood and rushed the accused and his mother to the nearby hospital. The mother was declared dead by the doctors while the accused is seriously injured and undergoing treatment
A murder case has been registered and further probe is underway.
