A shocking incident had come to light from the Hadapsar area of Pune, where the police recovered the body of a 24-year-old woman from the storage of a bed in her residence on November 8 at Hundekar settlement in Fursungi. In a significant development in the case, the Fursungi police have disclosed that the murder was committed by a familiar acquaintance of the deceased who often visited them. The deceased’s husband was out of town on business when the murder took place.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Swapnali Umesh Pawar (age 24, Res. Hundekar Vasti, Fursungi). Swapnali’s body was kept in a bed storage box after she was strangled to death. The police investigation revealed that the person who used to visit the Pawar couple’s house had committed the murder and fled the scene. Umesh Pawar (age 36, resident of Hundekar Vasti, Fursungi), the deceased’s husband, has filed a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station in this regard. Accordingly, a murder case was registered and an investigation was initiated.
According to the police, Umesh Pawar’s husband is an Uber taxi driver. On November 7, he went on an outstation trip to Kage village in Beed district. On returning home from Beed, Umesh found the door of the house latched from outside. He entered the house and found his wife missing. He searched for his wife, Swapnali, but failed to find her.
Later, Umesh found out that the gold ornaments, cash, and Swapnali’s mobile phone were missing from the house. Umesh opened the bed storage to search for the gold ornaments. Upon lifting the lid of the storage Umesh found Swapnil’s body hidden in the storage.
The postmortem report revealed that Swapnali died due to strangulation. Meanwhile, the police started an investigation into that regard. It turns out that Swapnali’s uncle, who used to visit them regularly, had visited her house at the time of the murder. The police have initiated a search for the uncle and further probe is underway.
