A shocking incident has come to light from the Wanowrie area of Pune where cyber thieves cheated a young woman to the tune of Rs 13 lakh and 32 thousand under the pretext of life insurance policy payment. The Wanowrie police have registered a case against the cyber fraudsters in this regard. A young woman has filed a complaint with the police in this regard.
According to the police, the complainant resides in the Parmar Park area of Wanowrie. The cyber thieves contacted the complainant’s mobile number five months ago. The fraudsters pretended to be representatives of a life insurance company. The accused asked about the bank details of the complainant by informing her about the annual payment of the policy and pretending to refund some amount of the life insurance policy.
The complainant deposited Rs 13 lakh, 32 thousand, at regular intervals in the bank account given by the scammers. She became suspicious when the scammers asked her to pay more money. After further inquiry with her insurance company, she realised that she had been cheated. A case has been filed at the police station in this regard, and police inspector Jadhav is carrying out further investigation.
