In a major crackdown on drug smuggling in Pune, the Khadki police have seized a substantial amount of marijuana in two different operations this month. On November 7, the Khadki police seized 5.630 kg of marijuana worth Rs 2,81,220 from an autorickshaw on the old Pune Mumbai Highway near the old Labour Commissioner’s office. While in another operation, the Khadki police seized 10.610 kg of marijuana worth Rs 1,59,150 from a State Transport bus and arrested two accused.
As per the police, the beat marshals of the Khadki Police Station were patrolling in the limits when they observed a suspicious autorickshaw. When the police approached the autorickshaw, they observed a smell similar to marijuana. The police searched the passenger identified as Afzal Sannaualah Sayyed (age 31, resident of Velha Taluka, Pune) and recovered 5.630 Kg of marijuana from his possession.
The accused, Afzal Sannaualah Sayyed, has been arrested, and a case has been registered under Section 8(c), 20(b)ii(a) of the NDPS Act.
