The 400/22 KV Extra High Voltage substation of the Mahapareshan at Chakan experienced a technical fault in the current transfer system on November 06 at around 4:45 p.m. This left 1800 high and low-pressure industrial consumers in the Chakan area, including Kuruli, Nanekarwadi, Mhalunge, Nighoje, and Alandi Phata, without electricity for almost five hours.
According to Mahapareshan’s information, a fault occurred in the current transformer in the 400/22 KV ultra-high pressure substation at Chakan. As a result, the power transformer of 50 MVA capacity was shut down. Due to this, the power supply of six express lines of 22 KV in Mahavitran was interrupted. However, the power supply of these six express power lines was started through an alternative system immediately at 5:00 p.m.
However, due to the shutdown of the power transformer, a 35 MW power deficit was created, and load management was not possible. Due to this, the power supply of four 22 KV power lines at Nanekarwadi, Alandi Phata, MIDC Circle, and Sara City had to be stopped, affecting almost 1500 low-pressure industrial customers and 10 thousand domestic and commercial customers in Alandi Phata, Kuruli, Nanekarwadi, Nighoje, and Mhalunge areas. The power supply was restored after five hours after changing the current transformer.
